Victoria’s calm exterior completely shattered into pure rage as the wealthy guests began pulling out their smartphones, taking photos and recording videos of the fiery confrontation. The high-society socialite who had spent years building a reputation of elegance and philanthropy was being unmasked as a fraud in her own living room. She stepped aggressively toward Sarah, her eyes wide with unhinged fury, swinging her arm back in an attempt to slap her stepdaughter across the face. But Sarah was ready for her. She caught Victoria’s wrist firmly in mid-air, holding it tight with remarkable strength while looking her stepmother dead in the eye.
Sarah: Do not ever put your hands on me again, Victoria!
Victoria: Let go of me, you miserable little leech! You are nothing without this family name!
Sarah: I am his real daughter! You are just a greedy stranger who tried to erase my existence!
Victoria: I gave him the best years of my life! I deserved every single penny of his estate!
Sarah: You married him for his money and left him alone in the hospital when he was dying!
Sarah shoved Victoria’s hand back, causing the older woman to stumble backward into the marble side table. A fine porcelain vase wobbled on the edge before crashing down onto the hardwood floor, shattering into dozens of sharp white pieces—a perfect physical representation of Victoria's falling empire. The guests gasped loudly, stepping back further to avoid the flying debris. Victoria clutched her bruised wrist, her breath coming in heavy, ragged gasps as she looked at the crowd of people who were once her friends, all staring at her with disgust and anger.
Arthur: Victoria, I am revoking my firm’s legal representation of your estate immediately due to fraud.
Victoria: You cannot do that, Arthur! I pay your firm millions of dollars a year in retainer fees!
Arthur: Fraud invalidates our agreement. I am duty-bound to report these forged documents to the district attorney.
Victoria: You will destroy me! You will destroy everything I have worked so hard to build!
Sarah: You destroyed yourself the day you decided to treat people like trash, Victoria.
Suddenly, the sound of loud sirens echoed from outside the estate's gated entrance, growing louder as patrol cars pulled up the long driveway. Two uniformed police officers walked briskly through the front doors, having been dispatched earlier when Victoria’s assistant called in the initial grand larceny report. The officers moved through the foyer into the living room, their heavy boots thudding against the floorboards as they assessed the tense scene before them. Victoria immediately put on a fake smile, rushing toward the officers in a desperate attempt to regain control of the narrative before Arthur could speak.
Victoria: Officers, thank goodness you are here! That maid over there tried to steal my expensive jewelry and assaulted me!
Officer 1: Ma'am, please step back and calm down so we can determine what is happening here.
Arthur: Officers, my name is Arthur Pendelton, senior partner at Pendelton & Associates. I am an officer of the court.
Officer 2: What seems to be the problem here, sir?
Arthur: I am handing over evidence of massive document forgery, fraud, and illegal asset seizure committed by this woman.
